1915 pattern Cranial / Bone drill by Allen & Hanbury's Ltd. Signed to the handle and with quick release bit. Total length approx. 26.5cm. £155 ($310)

Georgian 3-piece Ivory handled Chiropody set by J. Richardson & Co. Leicester. Superb condition throughout. Black Moroccan leather cover box with fitted interior lined with purple velvet. c.1820. Box size approx; 17cm x 3cm x 2cm £225 ($450)

Cased set of 3 Ebony handled Liston amputation knives by Henry Bigg c.1860. The original fitted mahogany box with makers stamp and Royal Warrant to the inside lid. The twin swing catches are absent. The actual knives have chequered ebony handles and the blades are stamped H.Bigg below the Royal crown. These knives still retain the original greased gauze wrapping! Lovely! Box size approx; 39cm x 6.5cm x 4cm £SOLD

Hilliards of Edinburgh cased canular / trocar set. Original black leather covered fitted case lined with purple velvet. Contains; syringe, 3x rosewood handled trocar and 1x silver trachea tube. The brass syringe is signed with the Royal Warrant and 'Hilliards, 7 Nicolson St, Edinburgh'. Dates to c.1860. Box size; 15.5cm x 8cm x 4cm. £325 ($650)

Large cased syringe by Weiss of London. Original shaped red Moroccan leather cover box with fitted blue velvet interior. The syringe with silver plated end and signed with the Royal Warrant and 'Weiss Patent, 62 Strand London'. Dates to c.1831-1851.  Box size; 27cm x 8.5cm x 3.5cm. £SOLD Weiss obtained a patent for a syringe in 1824.

Cased set of "Superior Surgeons Knives' by George Turton & Sons". Original metal tin in good condition with just light age related wear. Lid reads; Superior Surgeons' Knives manufactured by George Turton & Sons, Victoria St. & 257 Portobello St., Sheffield, England, Guaranteed Hand Forged." 11 scalpels are present (1 absent) and appear to be of the same type. -I am assuming knives such as these would be bought in sets of a dozen and one of each taken out as required for the Doctor to assemble his own preferred Surgical set. These have ebony fan tailed bodies with two rivets and each of the blades is signed "Made in Sheffield England". c.1860 . Case size; 18.5cm x 8cm x 2.3cm. £225 ($450)


Bell's pattern metacarpal amputation bow saw with octagonal ebony handle. c.1777.

Tonsil Guillotine by Jetter & Scheerer c.1915. Stainless steel construction with finger and thumb holes. The offending tonsil would be hooked inside the aperture on the end, the two prongs inserted (to stop it going anywhere...) and the top blade moved forwards ala guillotine to sheer it off. Lovely. Very good for thinly slicing salami and scaring men....... 26cm long. £150 ($300)


Victorian silver plated trocar / cannula. Ribbed handle with rubbed brass top. Inside holds 3x cannula with sheaths. Unsigned. 15cm long. £85 ($170)

Pair of Laparotomy scalpel guides. Nos. 7 & 12 by 'F.Ford' of New York supplied to 'Caswell Hazard & Co' c.1880. Steel with some surface pitting. Total length approx. 29cm. Price £70 the pair. ($140)

Georgian tortoishell cased gum lancet by 'Plum'.  No damage to the case and with brass ribbed mount. Total open length: 12cm  £185 ($370)

Georgian tortoishell cased gum lancet by 'Weiss'. Slight chipping to one edge of the case. Total open length: 13cm £95 ($190)

Victorian tortoishell cased double bladed hernia bistoury by 'Wood'. No damage to case and with brass ribbed mount, blades lock into position. Total open length: 24cm £245 ($490)


2-Bladed fleam by 'Butler'. Brass case with ebony centre. Length: 9cm. £125 ($250)


British Ministry marked hernia bistoury. Large bone handled locking hernia bistoury by 'R.C. Nag & Co.' also bearing the British Govt. arrow and the letter 'I'. c.1900. Total open length: 21.5cm £125 ($250)

WW1 period British Military issue Chiropody kit by W.H. Bailey & Son of London. War Department arrow / crowsfoot mark to top of the case and the instruments. Heavy mahogany case containing; 2x strops (1x marble, 1x leather), 2x scissors, tweezers, nail clippers (industrial strength!!), 4x scalpels and a rasp...sorry, nail file! I've not seen anything quite like this! Superb condition throughout! Box size: 19.5cm x 14cm x 6cm £350 ($700)
