Victorian Porcelain Douche c.1880. Size approx 10cm wide. £SOLD

Cased pair of early Heptic contact lenses. Guaranteed to make any user grateful that they live in 2003! It would appear that these would date somewhere around 1930, when the first  plastic styles were developed. Original rexine case lined with shammy leather. Both original lenses are intact and free from damage. Each one is finely hand blown glass with an air hole to allow the piece to breath. The little red painted dots at the bottom are to denote the left and right eye in case the prescription is different. They measure just over 23mm in diameter and a whopping 8mm deep!! Heaven only knows how bizarre you'd look walking down the street wearing them! The original rubber applicator is also present but has age related wear. Case size; 8cm x 5cm x 2cm. £SOLD

Mahogany case of superb colour with original lacquered brass cartouche (signed 'J H Bifsell') lock plate and swing catches. Remarkably the cotton covered vulcanised tubes are still present and intact, but have started to develop stiffness. The top tube lifts away from the box freely but the bottom piece appears to have bonded with the bottom of the case so we have not attempted to remove it. c.1810. Cased set of 12 closed mould blood cupping glasses in original cardboard box with  taper! These are the closed mould style glasses produced c.1880-1900 with the thicker rim to prevent damage to the skins surface. The taper would have been used to heat the air inside the cup before placing it on the skin so as the air cooled it created a mild vacuum. Slight variation in size amidst the cups, but a very rare complete set! £295  ($590)
